Armenian roasters in a 150-sq-ft pump house tiled by Haas Brothers

Lumen roasts its own in Azusa, and the retail pages print producer, altitude, process and variety down to a Bolivian Gesha from Antonio Mamani at 1650m. The window itself was a 150-square-foot parking-lot utility enclosure until Breland-Harper rebuilt it and the Haas Brothers clad it in 6,000 handmade tiles fired at Cerámica Suro — a tile count nobody arrives at by accident.
The coffee
The nine-coffee shelf runs to two Geshas and an anaerobic Sidra, roasted by the founders in Azusa, with producer and altitude printed on every page and no roast date anywhere.
Breland-Harper rebuilt a 150-square-foot enclosure on N Figueroa into an outdoor cafe with Nikolai and Simon Haas, and Interior Design ran the result as Lumen's US debut. Everything reaches you through a service window, because at that footprint there is no inside to stand in.
