Curator’s note

The company has roasted its own since 2009, and the bags name growers down to Cooperativa El Porvernir on Guatemala's Ayarza, with process, varietal and elevation printed alongside. None of that happens at this address: Venice is one counter in a room shared with Chef D Brandon Walker's hot-food business, pouring the 10th Street blend.

The coffee

Alana's roasts its own coffee in house almost daily on a seasonal rotation, and the single origins on its retail shelf carry producer, process and elevation, though not one of the 29 products listed carries a roast date.

Since May 2025 this has been one room with two registers: espresso and pastries from Alana's, hot food from Chef D Brandon Walker's VB Grab & Go. Erin Ward came in to set the aesthetic direction, so the look is deliberate even where the floor is shared.
