Curator’s note

Emil Vanta named the roastery for the Tagalog bundok and roasts everything in house, almost all of it Philippine — Batangas barako, Lipa barako, Liberica at the center of the shelf. The bar prints no menu and no roast dates, and the only trace of a manual brew is the founder recommending a pour-over in his own staff bio.

  • beans to take home
  • studying near ucla
  • filipino signature lattes

The coffee

Nine coffees roasted in house, from Batangas barako and a honey-process Catimor grown by the BACOFA smallholder co-op on Mt. Apo to a Sodu-station Guji natural, with no roast date printed on any bag.

The bar lives inside a Westwood live-event venue, a pop-up in early 2025 that stayed, so the room around it was drawn for shows rather than for coffee. What belongs to Boondocks is the counter; the walls are on loan.
