Curator’s note

A few months open, and the bar is already buying out of Tokyo and Taipei; a shop this new usually picks whichever roaster delivers. The house espresso is blended to ratios Commons set rather than ratios someone sold it, and the 100g bags print farm, producer, variety, process and altitude.

The coffee

Nothing is roasted on site — Commons buys finished coffee from four named roasters (GLITCH, Oasis, Walnuts, Stereoscope) and sells each as its own storefront collection, with the house espresso a Stereoscope collaboration roasted to Commons' own ratios and parameters. Retail runs sixteen-plus single-origin lots, including a GLITCH-roasted Pink Bourbon from Granja Paraíso 92 in Cauca, though no bag prints a roast date.

The room runs gray and white behind a full-height glass storefront, with black powder-coated steel shelving holding the retail bags and ceramics and a landscaped walkway outside the door. Signage is minimal, which is a confident move for a shop only a few months old.
