Memento Coffee Works
A curved birch counter under white globe pendants; pour-over priced per cup off a bean list.
Curator’s note
The pour-over is priced coffee by coffee off a rotating bean list — $8 for a washed Kenya Nyawira, up to $13.50 — with Newbery St. among the roasters, whose founder placed third at the U.S. National Brewers Cup in 2024 and again in 2025. That is a serious list for a room that roasts nothing of its own: the whole shop is a bet on other people's roasting, and on choosing well.
The coffee
Memento doesn't roast; it buys from what it calls 'selected roasters,' and Newbery St. has been one of them — a Greater Boston cloud roaster built around Thai coffee whose founder is a three-time U.S. Brewers Cup finalist. The bean list has carried a washed Kenya Nyawira at $8 and the Billy Maemon, a $12 Thai natural, on a house rule of no retail bag older than three months.
The room runs one material palette end to end: a curved birch-plywood service counter and window bar, a sculpted ceiling soffit curving over the seats, a row of white globe pendants, light-wood mullions above polished concrete. Nobody puts a curve in a ceiling by accident, and this one is holding the whole room together.
