Qahwetna Coffee
Pour-over, siphon and sand-brewed Turkish coffee on one menu, six months open in Anaheim.
Curator’s note
Sand-brewed Turkish coffee on the same manual-brew menu as siphon and pour-over is a real point of view, and hardly another printed menu in the county carries it. What is missing is provenance: the shop names no roaster, and its three retail bags say Ethiopia, Guatemala and Sumatra and nothing else.
The coffee
The manual-brew section stands on its own, separate from the espresso classics — pour-over, siphon, and sand-brewed Turkish coffee made in hot sand the traditional way. No roaster's name appears on the ordering site, the Instagram, or any product page, and the three retail bags carry only a country apiece: Ethiopia, Guatemala, Sumatra.
No designer, architect or design award is attached to the room, and at six months old that is age rather than a verdict.
