Unincorporated Coffee Roasters
Swork's coffee corner of 21 years, now run by an Altadena roaster
Curator’s note
Corners like this one usually change hands in the dark: a lease ends, and one morning there is a different logo on the glass. Swork spent 21 years here and then helped the next roaster move in — one that publishes farm, varietal, process and elevation on everything it roasts.
The coffee
Roasted in-house on San Franciscan machines since 2013, with farm, varietal, process and elevation published on the named single origins and no roast date shown anywhere on the retail pages.
The corner poured coffee as Swork for 21 years before Unincorporated took the keys in 2022. The shell is older still — the Edwards and Wildey Building, a two-story brick block credited to Los Angeles architect Edward Butler Rust.
