Curator’s note

Five bags carry Herst's own name — Marina Blend, Ethiopia Aricha, Sunset Blend, Ethiopia Godicho, El Salvador Colomba — and the home page is titled The Roastery, which is a lot of identity to stake for a storefront sitting between an Aesop and a Le Labo. This is a shop that would rather be known for its coffee than for its address.

  • A Spanish Latte on the patio
  • The fireplace lounge
  • A 6:30am start
  • A bag of the house roast

The coffee

Five own-label bags anchor the program — Marina Blend, a washed El Salvador/Guatemala/Honduras blend; Ethiopia Aricha, a natural Yirgacheffe; Sunset Blend; Ethiopia Godicho; El Salvador Colomba — every label stopping at country or region plus process, with 'Fresh Roasted' standing in for a printed roast date. The online store runs behind the marketing page, its roasted-coffee category currently rendering empty, though bags still sell over the counter in the shop.

Pale wood millwork and open shelving styled with ceramics and glass brewing vessels, a fireplace lounge inside, and most of the seating out on the village walk under star jasmine — the room is built to sit in Lido Marina Village next to Aesop and Le Labo without flinching. Bright, minimal and deliberately uncluttered, which for a bar this small is a harder look to hold than it appears.
