Curator’s note

Five turns judging the Cup of Excellence is an unusual line on the résumé of a man running a storefront with a few chairs and a bench outside. The Fairfax room is built to match: no manual brew on the board at all, everything aimed at the shot and logged through Cropster.

  • espresso
  • beans to take home
  • early mornings
  • a quick stop

The coffee

Direct-trade single origins roasted to order on Sundays, with farm, producer, altitude and process printed on the bag — Geisha from Honduras and Costa Rica, anaerobic Catimor from Lam Dong.

The bar is built around espresso — a La Marzocco Linea PB with Cropster logging, Mahlkönig E80 GBW, PuqPress tamper — and the Spring 2026 menu skips manual brew entirely, putting its single-origin option on espresso and drip instead.
